Twin City Overhead Door is built on a simple, slightly old-fashioned idea: answer the phone with a person, put every price in writing before the work, and test the door before the truck leaves.
Who we are
We're a licensed & insured garage door company based at 215 N Washington Ave in downtown Minneapolis, serving the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro and western Wisconsin, up to 80 miles from downtown. The work covers the whole system this region actually has: torsion springs matched to measured door weight, cables and tracks, openers, panel and full-door replacement, insulated steel doors for attached garages, 24/7 emergency response, and commercial bay and rolling steel doors for businesses.
Meet the owner
David Gordon, Owner. David runs Twin City Overhead Door and runs its dispatch, which is the part customers feel. When you're promised a window, that promise has a name attached to it; when something goes sideways on a job, the escalation path is one person long. The company is deliberately simple: dispatchers answer, techs diagnose and quote in writing, and nobody earns a commission for talking you into a bigger job than the door needs.
Why owner-run dispatch matters
Most of what goes wrong in this trade goes wrong between the phone call and the driveway: the quoted range that mutates on arrival, the "technician" who's actually a commissioned closer, the 4-hour window nobody honors. Owner-run dispatch is our answer to all three. The person scheduling trucks owns the outcome, the phone-quote range comes from the same published price list you can read on this site, and the written fixed-price quote you sign is the number on the invoice. It's not a slogan: it's just a shorter distance between a promise and the person accountable for it.
How we work
- You call, a live dispatcher answers. 24/7, a few symptom questions and a phone-quote range on the spot.
- Text ETA. The tech's name and an honest arrival window, updated if the schedule shifts.
- Written quote, your sign-off. A fixed price in writing before any work. Decline it and the tech packs up.
- Repair, tested. Minimum 5 full open-close cycles, a balance test, and a safety-reverse test before we call it done.
Our honest commitments
- We never fabricate reviews, star ratings, or "jobs completed" counters.
- We never invent awards, years-in-business claims, or "#1 in the Twin Cities" banners.
- Every price goes in writing before any work begins, and mid-job surprises stop the work, not inflate the invoice.
- The after-hours surcharge ($90-$160) is stated on the phone, before a truck rolls.
- Published pricing ranges are honest 2026 Twin Cities estimates, never bait numbers a tech is trained to escape.
- We'll tell you when a repair beats a replacement, even when the smaller job is better for you than for us.
